It enables you to connect extra 2 monitors/HDTVs via HDMI, DVI (or VGA), connect extra 6 USB 3.0/2.0 devices and Ethernet LAN via a SINGLE USB 3.0 cable. One of the USB 3.0 fast charging port enables you to charge iphones, Samsung and other smartphones
